Etherna, our Blockchain as a Service platform, was named the best innovation project in the ‘B2B and eSupply Chain solutions’ category at the 7th Digital360 Awards.

350 companies competed across eight categories at this year’s edition as part of the technology contest promoted by the Digital360 group. The contest seeks to celebrate the best projects on the market today, which stand out thanks to their original ideas, concrete benefits, and model replicability.

The winning case study (which beat more than 100 CIOs from all over Italy) detailed the use of Etherna and B-Cert as a response to a specific need presented by Abbanoa SpA, the Sole Operator of Sardinia’s Integrated Water Service
The utility company expressed a need to certify its meter readings to guarantee the date and unchangeability of meter readings in case of disputes, which are sometimes filed years later, resulting in unpleasant litigations and costly and high-risk evidence hearings.

To respond to this need, Flosslab created a solution that automatically retrieves meter reading files, processes them, and notarises them on the Etherna blockchain using B-Cert’s API. This solution allows Abbanoa SpA to date its meter readings and guarantee their unchangeability while also increasing transparency for users and making financial and business savings, without impacting any of the systems that were already in use.

During one of the contest phases, Flosslab’s marketing manager, Ilaria Mura, gave a talk on the benefits of Etherna:
