Creation of a Social e-Commerce portal

Porcovino is a project started in 2011, on which we worked by developing an innovative Social e-Commerce portal.

The company aimed to promote and sell the best Italian wine&food products (wine, cheese, ham, desserts) on several international markets, starting from Japan, United States and Northern Europe. The challenge was to reason in opposition to the world of supermarkets, showing excellent, niche products, starting from stories, people, and places behind the products.

The core of Porcovino was to be represented by its virtual village, an immersive context to show products, producers, and the small businesses that are the roots of the high quality of Italian wine and food.

FlossLab offered, for the Japanese launch of the platform, a solution based on three completely integrated, open-source macro-environments: e-commerce, social network, and magazine.

The advanced and innovative use of multimedia content in the user experience led to an intensive use of Amazon’s Cloud Computing technology, making Porcovino into a worthy beta tester for the brand new Tokyo node of Amazon AWS.
